Q. What is the difference between CBD and THC?
A. Cannabis and hemp contain hundreds of chemical compounds. Over 100 of these are known as cannabinoids, which are primarily responsible for the plants’ effects on cell receptors in the brain and body. THC and CBD are the two most abundant cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. The hemp plant is legally defined as cannabis which contains no more than 0.3% THC.
The most researched cannabinoid is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is responsible for the way your brain and body respond to cannabis, including the high and intoxication. THC has some therapeutic effects but it also has harmful short and long-term effects. The concentration or strength of cannabis is usually shown as a percentage of THC by weight (or volume in tinctures and concentrates).
Cannabidiol (CBD) is another cannabinoid, the second most abundant one in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a high or intoxication. There is actually some evidence that CBD may block or lower some of the effects of THC on the mind. CBD is also being studied for its possible therapeutic uses on a wide range of conditions including anxiety, pain, inflammation, spasticity, sleep and epilepsy.
Q. What forms of payment can I use?
A. The following forms of payment are accepted: Visa Credit/Debit, Mastercard Credit/Debit and American Express.
Q. Who will have access to my information once I make an order?
Q. How will the purchase show up on my credit card statement?
A.The purchase will show up on your credit card statement as Ivyside.
Q. Can I place an order as a guest user?
Q. Will these products result in a positive result for cannabis drug testing?
A. CBD products, whether made with CBD isolate or full spectrum hemp extract, will not show up on a drug test as the THC content is minimal or non-existent. For those taking extremely high doses of full-spectrum CBD (upwards of 2000mg/day), there’s a very unlikely possibility of producing a false-positive result.
Q. Can I get high from CBD?
CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid, so it won’t get you “high”. However, that doesn’t mean CBD isn’t psychoactive. CBD has been found to impact the psyche, affecting mood, alertness, stress, anxiety, and cravings - typically in beneficial ways.
Q. Has the product been lab tested?
A. All products featured on Ivyside, down to the specific batch, have been tested by third-party laboratories to ensure accurate cannabinoid content (including no more than 0.3% THC) and that the product is free of residual solvents (from extraction), heavy metals, toxins, pesticides and bacteria. Ivyside provides lab testing results for all products to customers. Click here for our CBD product quality guide.
Q. Is the product organic?
A. Ivyside partners with suppliers who use organic and eco-friendly farming practices wherever possible. As the hemp farming industry is relatively new in the US, frameworks for organic certification have not yet been fully developed. Most importantly, Ivyside verifies all products are labeled accurately and completely free of heavy metals, toxins and pesticides through third-party lab testing. All products featured on Ivyside are derived from hemp either grown in the US or in Europe.
Q. Are there recommendations for Dosage?
A. Due to lack of human trials, as well as the fact that CBD affects everyone differently based on age, weight, metabolism, diet, and overall health, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for dosing CBD. Check out our dosing guide for a guide on how to discover your ideal dose.
Q. Is CBD Legal?
A. The production of hemp-derived CBD was legalized nationwide with the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill late last year. Full regulation on product formulation, labeling and claims is still being developed. Read more here.
Note that CBD sales are not legal in 8 U.S. States. Those States are: Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Dakota, Washington D.C. Please check back as State regulations change.
Q. What does CBD help with?
A. CBD is most commonly used to help with anxiety, stress, sleep and pain. It is also prescribed as a pharmaceutical drug for rare forms of Epilepsy. CBD is currently being researched for a much broader range of potential therapeutic applications. Check out the Learn section of our website to stay up-to-date on the latest scientific findings around CBD.
Q. How does CBD work in the body?
A. CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system - a network of receptors spread through our brain and body that helps regulate everything from pain, inflammatory response, metabolism, mood, sleep, and anxiety. Unlike THC, which binds directly to cannabinoid receptors to provide both therapeutic benefits and a side-effect “high”, CBD inhibits the breakdown of the natural neurotransmitter Anandamide, resulting in higher levels of Anandamide in the endocannabinoid system.
Q. How should I use CBD?
A. There are many ways to use CBD - tinctures, capsules, edibles, topicals, vaporizers and more - and various levels and frequency of dosage you can try. Each person reacts to CBD differently, with their own optimal product format and dosage. We recommend starting with a low dose, recording your response in a journal, and slowly increasing the dose, changing product format and consumption ritual until you discover the right experience for you.
Q. Does CBD have any harmful interactions with drugs or medications?
A. Consult your doctor with any concerns around interaction between CBD and medication, supplements or diet.
Q. How can I tell if CBD is working?
A. It may take up to 30 days for your body to adapt to regular use of hemp CBD and experience the full benefit. We recommend being consistent with product format and dose for at least a week, keeping track of your experience with a journal. You’ll know if and when CBD is working for you.
Q. Do your CBD products come from cannabis or hemp? What is the difference?
A. All products listed on Ivyside use hemp-derived CBD. Hemp and cannabis are two varieties of the same plant: Cannabis Sativa. Hemp is simply the varieties that produce 0.3% or less THC by weight. CBD can therefore be extracted from either hemp or cannabis. Both hemp and cannabis will provide additional cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids in a full-spectrum extract. The only difference between the two is that cannabis produces THC while hemp does not.
